Societe Generale Libano-Europeenne de Banque SAL (SGLEB) and mobile phone operator Cellis launched the first mobile banking service in Lebanon. SOGECELL allows customers to perform transactions via mobile phones without affecting banking secrecy.
The service will allow clients to balance up to 8 accounts, transfer money between accounts, check up to 8 credit cards accounts, and receive information about the bank’s new products. At a later stage, clients will be able to transfer money to pay bills. French company GemPlus, a designer and producer of smart cards for Visa, Mastercard and other financial institutions, was selected to implement the project. — ( Lebanon Invest )
