Recently published statistics by Saudi Arabia’s Chief Customs Bureau show that the Kingdom imported 84,000 cars in the first quarter of 2001. This figure includes new and second-hand vehicles that were imported into the Kingdom by registered automobile agencies and individuals, reported Al-Sharq Al-Awsat .
The same source estimated the value of Saudi car imports in the first quarter of 2001 at 4.5 billion Saudi riyals ($1.2 billion). Approximately 65 percent of these vehicles are imported from Japan, Germany and the United States. — (menareport.com)
