Saudi Arabia’s National Company For Glass Industries (Zoujaj) experienced a 35 percent profit increase, earning 8.9 million Saudi riyals ($2.3 million) in the third quarter of 2001. Zoujaj also increased its exports by 34 percent compared with the same period in the previous year and reduced expenditures by SR 1.4 million.

The combination of increasing domestic competition and declining prices in Saudi Arabia’s glass industry forced the company to reinvent its marketing strategies, reported Al-Hayat. Director General of the Company, Abdul-Rahman Bin Zaraa, adopted a policy in 1998 to reduce production costs and maximize sales by locating new international markets.

Zoujaj is a joint stock company incorporated in 1990, and owned by Saudi nationals and Saudi companies. It is presently engaged in the production of returnable and non returnable bottles. The company has two factories in Riyadh and Dammam, with an annual production capacity of 92,000 metric tons. — (menareport.com)
