Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have paid $54.5 million into two funds set up to support the Palestinian uprising against Israel, the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) said Wednesday, August 15.

Saudi Arabia paid $40 million and the Emirates $14.5 million into the funds set up by an emergency Arab summit last October, IDB president Ahmad Mohammad Ali said, quoted by the SPA news agency.

According to Ali, the payments take Saudi's contribution to the funds to $210 million and the Emirati contribution to $57.5 million. Payments from all Arab countries to the two funds currently total $409 million, of which $240 million has been transferred to the Palestinian Authority," Ali added. ― (AFP, Riyadh)
