Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have developed a first-time joint project to manufacture light weaponry and military equipment, according to Al-Watandaily. The joint weapons factory will be build in the Saudi city of Al-Kharaj, close to Riyadh, using Pakistani defense and military technology expertise.

In its initial phase of operations, the plant will produce light weapons, including automatic and semi-automatic rifles as well as ammunition, much like those produced currently by Pakistan. In subsequent stages, the plant will expand to produce more advanced weaponry.

In addition, defense sources stated that the two countries would also work to promote cooperation in military exercises and training. The decision to establish the joint arms plant came about following direct negotiations, which took place recently between the two countries in Riyadh and Islamabad. — (Mena Report)
