Saudi Arabia denied on Monday a report in a Lebanese newspaper that Riyadh had temporarily halted issuing visas to nationals from Lebanon.

“Some media reports said that Saudi Arabia has currently halted issuing visas to Lebanese. The office [Saudi Embassy in Lebanon] would like to point out that this news is false,” said a statement from the Saudi mission in Beirut.

“The consular department at the [Saudi] Embassy is keeping up its regular work and granting visas to the Lebanese brothers according to the mechanisms adopted without any change,” it added.

A report published in Al-Akhbar newspaper Monday said that some Lebanese residents were surprised after Saudi Arabia halted issuing visas to Lebanese nationals.

The report quoted an unidentified employee at the Saudi Embassy as saying that the issuing of visas to Lebanese was put on hold until further notice.
