Saudi computer sales shrink by 30 percent

Sales of international computer brands in Saudi Arabia dropped by 30 percent this year. Market sources attributed the decline to the mounting costs of computer manufacturing. Local computer vendors of are reportedly shifting to marketing domestically assembled computers, reported Al-Hayat.  

 

Last year, computer sales throughout the Kingdom were estimated at 223,000 PCs, while the average computer price reached $1,950, with total sales reaching $434.8 millions, according to the International Data Company. 

 

Saudi Arabia’s information technology (IT) market, which includes computers, software, networks and systems, averages two billion dollars annually, equivalent to 45 percent of the total Arabian Gulf computer market. — (Mena Report)
