The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia maintained a trade surplus with the Arab World of 10.4 billion Saudi riyals ($2.76 billion) in 1999, statistics by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SANA) indicate. Al-Watan reported that this figure translates into a slight decrease of 5.7 percent compared with the SR 11 billion surplus recorded in 1998.
SANA further estimated that the Kingdom’s non-oil exports to the Arab World stood at 9.76 billion Saudi Riyals ($2.6 billion) in 2000. The Kingdom is the largest exporter among the Pan-Arab trade partners list. Saudi Arabia enjoys a considerable trade surplus with its nine largest Arab trading partners. — (menareport.com)
