Saudi Arabia imported 53.5 million Jordanian dinars worth of goods from Jordan during the first half of 2002, reported Jordan’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce. These figures rank Saudi Arabia as the Kingdom’s largest trade partner among Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) was Jordan’s second largest trading partner, importing JD24.7 million worth of goods in the first six months of the year. Qatar imported JD 8.3 million worth imports during the same period.
Jordan’s main trading partners over the last decade were Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and the UAE. Some 74 percent of Jordan’s total exports headed for Arab markets over the past 10 years, with imports from those markets representing 84 percent of the total. — (menareport.com)
