The Indonesian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Mr. Salem Al-Jaafari, estimated Saudi Arabia's imports from Indonesia at $1.9 billion in the years 2000-2004. The official also estimated at $418 million the value of Saudi Arabia's exports to Indonesia in 2004, mainly petrochemicals and oil.
In addition, Al-Jaafari, estimated at one million the total number of the working Indonesian expatriates in Saudi Arabia. The total remittances by these Indonesian expatriates stand at amount to SR 7.2 billion per annum.
