ALBAWABA - Saudi Arabia has launched a new technological and economic era by entering the field of electric car production and commencing the manufacturing of the first electric car in the kingdom.

The King Abdullah Economic City announced that it has begun manufacturing the first "Lucid" electric car in the kingdom's inaugural car manufacturing facility, describing this step as a "historic day for the kingdom."

The statement added, "We take pride in celebrating the start of production in the first-ever car manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia, which will produce up to 155,000 Lucid electric cars annually..."

In another tweet, "The City" announced that "in celebration of this historic achievement and the 93rd Saudi National Day, Lucid has created a special vehicle to commemorate the new Lucid Motors headquarters in the Middle East, a limited run of 93 Lucid Air Kingdom Edition vehicles."

The "Lucid" facility, supported by the Saudi Ministry of Investment, the Saudi Industrial Development Fund, and the King Abdullah Economic City, will contribute to the development of electric cars and work towards achieving the "Saudi Green Initiative" goal of having at least 30% of cars in the kingdom be electric by 2030.

Lucid Group expects to employ hundreds of Saudi citizens in the early years, ultimately reaching thousands by the end.
