The vice chairmen of the tenders committee in the Saudi eastern region,
Rashed al-Suwaikat, estimates that construction in oil and petrochemical
sector will see a 30% growth during 2005 and 2006, reported the Saudi
al-Watan newspaper . Al-Suwikat expects that the investments
in these projects will be similar to the boom of the 1980s.
On the other hand, he mentioned the challenges that the contractors will face during the next stage as a result of the small amount of visas and the necessity to accept the Saudization program of the government, adopted
by ARAMCO. ARAMCO announced that it agreed with engineering companies to
prepare an argent plan for Saudization of 65% of the construction sector
workers.
