Two expansion ventures in Saudi Arabia, both of which are nearing completion, are sure to boost the nation's styrene production. Al-Riyadh newspaper reports that the Saudi Petrochemicals Company (Sadaf) has completed the renewal project of its styrene factory no. 1. The company recently successfully delivered the trial operation mission to the factory's management. The project was accomplished in accordance with the scheduled timetable and within the planned budget. This styrene factory is planned to produce 460,000 tonnes annually.
Meanwhile, Al-Riyadh newspaper has also reported that the Saudi Petrochemicals Company (Sadaf) and the Petrokemia Company, both of which belong to Saudi Basic Industries Company (SABIC), are due to complete the expansion project of their styrene factory no. 2, whereby the mechanical part of the project has almost been finalized. This styrene factory is planned to produce 500,000 tonnes annually. The factory's expansion project cost a total of SR 637.5 million. (SR3.75=$1).
