Samsung Electronics, Korean digital technology manufacturer, plans to launch a range of accessories for the company’s mobile phone customers in the Middle East. The company has recently formed an official Accessories Business division to capitalize on the growing $100 million mobile phone accessories market in the region.
Samsung’s range of accessories fully integrate into the back of any Samsung phone and include a portable hands-free kit, ear microphone, battery, car charger, car cradle, charger and Bluetooth devices. Samsung will make the accessory products available through its existing mobile phone distribution network.
Furthermore, the company plans to tie-up with component channel partners and companies that can exclusively focus on the accessories business. The new packaging includes blister packaging with a hologram to differentiate genuine accessories from counterfeit, gray market accessories.
‘We are in the process of establishing strong retail presence for the new range of accessories throughout the Middle East region and with the new range of accessories we are confident of satisfying the needs of our customers,” said. Sudhir Nair, sales and marketing manager for Samsung Gulf Electronics.
“Our entry into the accessories market is steered by our continuous innovation in the mobile phone segment. With a stronghold in the mobile phone market, we are confident that Samsung will be among the top two mobile phone accessory companies in the region,” Han concluded.
Samsung Middle East and Africa (MEA) is headquartered in Dubai. The company markets its digital devices portfolio through four product divisions: Handheld products (HHP), Information Technology (IT), Home Appliances (HA) and Audio-Visual (AV).
Through a network of over 40 distributors, Samsung MEA looks after the distribution of its digital devices across the Middle East and Africa. With revenues of $1.5 billion in 2002, the company has also invested in a service subsidiary, located in the Jebel Ali Free Trade Zone in Dubai.
The 3,000 square meters service facility recently completed six years and is among the largest within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. — (menareport.com)
