Samsung Electronics has officially launched the all new Galaxy Note 5, and the Galaxy S6 Edge+ at a launch event at the Raffles Hotel in Dubai. And I got a chance to take a close look at the new devices.

Samsung says that the Galaxy Note 5 now has a glass-metal design philosophy, similar to the one on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge+. The Galaxy Note 5 weighs 176g, and has a thickness of 7.6mm which is significantly slimmer and lighter than the previous Galaxy Note 4.

Samsung claims that the new S-Pen is now easier to eject and remove, thanks to the new push button at the tip of the pen. When it comes to battery, the Note 5 can do a full recharge in 120mins wireless, and 90mins with wired chargers.

It seems a new feature called the Scroll Capture lets you snap the entire webpage in the Note 5. Samsung has also introduced the SideSync feature which can sync your smartphone notifications to your Windows PC or Mac. Also, you can live broadcast videos via YouTube. An interesting feature of the Note5 is that you can take down notes without the need to turn on the display from standby mode.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will come in Black, Gold, White and Titanium colors. Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ is the biggest flagship of the S6 series. Both the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+, and the Galaxy Note 5 shares similar features such as 5.7-inch 2K display, a 16MP main camera, a 5MP selfie camera with face-stabilization, Exynos 7420 processor along with 4GB DDR4 RAM, and storage options ranging from 32GB up to 128GB.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5, and the Galaxy S6 Edge+ will be available from the 28th of August, 2015. The 32GB Note 5 will cost 2799 AED, and the 32GB S6 Edge+ for AED 3,099 and the 64GB S6 Edge+ will have a price tag of AED 3,399.
