Samsung Electronics recently announced that its digital appliances division recorded sales of over $250 million in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region, a 15 percent increase over the previous year, confirmed a press release.
The digital appliances division is responsible for the company’s product portfolio of refrigerators, air-conditioners (AC), microwave ovens and washing machines. The division’s global sales stood at $2.5 billion, representing eight percent of the Korean giant’s total annual sales during the year.
“In 2002, we plan to build on this performance and further grow the division’s business in the region by over 30 percent,” said Global President of Samsung’s digital appliance network division, Yong Oe Han.
“Our growth will be fuelled by the introduction of our new Digital Variable Multi (DVM) technology for system air-conditioning. We will also be introducing our standing AC range in the region during the first half of the year,” Han added.
Samsung’s Middle East and Africa headquarters is based in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and operates divisions of home appliances, audio and visual, information technology and Telecommunications. Founded in 1969 in Korea, Samsung Electronics today has 25 production bases worldwide and 59 sales subsidiaries in 46 countries. — (menareport.com)
