Sales of mineral and pure drinking water in UAE boom

Sales of mineral and pure drinking water, one of the fastest growing segments in the food and beverage industry in the UAE, have increased tremendously during the recent years and there is possibility for continuous growth in the coming years, according to industry sources. 

 

Ashraf Abushady, general manager of Masafi Mineral Water told The Khaleej Times, the company, which presently commands a market share of 46 per cent in the UAE, posted some 10 per cent growth in exports last year and is aiming at increasing this to 15 per cent this year.  

 

Jeema Mineral Water also posted high growth rate mainly due to its strategy to cut costs of operations and recorded net profit of Dh5.4 million last year compared to Dh2.7 million in 2002.  

 

The company's turnover also increased by 25 per cent and exports to most of the AGCC countries and Africa increased around 100 per cent, according to company reports.  

 

Oasis water, one of the largest selling pure drinking bottled water in the UAE offering a complete range of bottled waters in sizes ranging from 100 ml to five gallons, claims that in the UAE two out of five people consume Oasis bottled water everyday. (menareport.com)
