Sahara Center, a new United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s shopping and entertainment center, is participating in Sharjah’s month-long Spring Promotion, with an Arabian Culture and Heritage festival, running until March 10. The mall will feature Arabian folklore performances, highlighted by the Egyptian dance troop Mawlawya.

Emirati poetry readings, heritage bands together with traditional Arabian arts bands will also perform during the week. Additional cultural features around the mall include a henna artist, and a cupbearer serving Arqous, an authentic Arabic liquorice juice. Meanwhile, the mall’s food court will host kiosks serving traditional Arabic food.

Sahara Center will also celebrate the Spring Promotion with instore sales and special offers and promotions. Key anchor tenants include Debenhams, Toys ‘R’ Us, Adventureland and Century Cinemas. Additional anchors, Marks & Spencer and THE One will open shortly.

The Sahara Center project, which opened on February 20, 2002, is owned jointly by Abdulrahman Bukhatir and Saeed Ghobash. Built at a cost of 400 million Emirati dirhams ($108.9 million) in the Al-Nahda district of Sharjah, the total built-out area of the mall is one million square feet, making it the largest shopping mall in the emirate of Sharjah. — (menareport.com)
