The Abu Dhabi–based Rotana Hotel Management Corporation signed an agreement with Comtrust, the e-business unit of the Emirates Telecommunications Corporation, Etisalat, under which Rotana's Microsoft exchange server, which runs the corporation’s email system, will be hosted at Etisalat's Data Center facilities. Comtrust's Internet-based solution is designed to provide e-mail services to over 300 users from 17 hotels, suites and resort locations throughout the Middle East.

Hosting at Comtrust will help Rotana to eliminate costs associated with connecting to the Internet via a leased-line. It will also provide Rotana with technical support, tape back-up management, remote hand and system monitoring. The new system will thus free Rotana’s in-house Information Technology (IT) department to concentrate on more critical technology activities, according to a company press release.

“Our ongoing marketing campaign requires us to send out large numbers of e-mails to our club members and prospective customers worldwide and any delay or system shutdowns affects all users in 13 United Arab Emirates (UAE) properties and at four other locations in the Middle East,” said Atef Elias, general manager and chairman of Rotana's IT Committee.

Comtrust was launched in January 2000 to provide secure e-commerce infrastructure services and applications, both in the Business-to-Business and the Business-to-Consumer segments, in the UAE and throughout the Middle East region. Services include online electronic payments, digital certificates based security solutions, hosting services and e-retailing solutions, systems integration, enterprise PKI implementations and corporate e-commerce strategy consulting. — (menareport.com)
