Reichle & De-Massari (R&M, www.rdm.com), the Swiss structured cabling specialist announced today the successful completion of a major cabling infrastructure project at Mobinil’s new offices and data centre in Egypt. Mobinil, Egypt’s leading mobile operator, awarded this large-scale project to R&M, and it was lead by R&M’s partner in Egypt, ElSalam for Engineering Equipment “QUIP”. ElSalam implemented R&M’s leading structured cabling solutions at the Nile City Tower where Mobinil new offices and data centre are head-quartered.
The project started in 2004, when Mobinil - the Egyptian Company for Mobile Services - decided to relocate some of their offices from the Cairo World Trade Centre to the Nile City Towers.
Mobinil required that the company they work with boast advanced technical expertise and provide the highest cabling specifications. They wanted all Copper and fiber cables to have LSFR0H jacket, and the Copper cables had to be Cat. 6 SFTP. R&M cables were specifically produced for this project and were delivered on schedule.
The project included 3500 Cat. 6 shielded outlets using the 45x45 mounting plates to fit with the required architect’s requirements. Global panels were specified for its easy maintenance. Voice panels were also included to integrate voice network with the data network.

Building on this success, in 2005, R&M and QUIP were selected for the second time to provide copper and fiber backbone for Mobinil’s new data center in the Nile City. R&M 64 Cat. 6 Global panels and over 100 fiber panels were used at Mobinil’s data center along with Level-3 security products. Low-Smoke Flame-Retardant requirements were specified for all cables. Voice panels were also used to support voice integration.
