Royal Jordanian Board of Directors met on Wednesday in order to discuss its final decision regarding the renewal of its short and medium range narrow bodied fleet.
According to Petra news agency, it was decided to renew its current Airbus A310, A320 aircraft with new aircraft of Airbus A320 and A321 on operating lease basis. Three months ago, Royal Jordanian made a preliminary decision to enter into talks with Boeing for the purchase of 5 B-737-800 aircraft on financial lease and another 4-5 aircraft on operating lease within the framework of RJ bid to replace its old Airbus A310 and A320 aircraft.
These talks were due to lead to agreements by 31 Aug., 2004. In view of the fact that no agreement has been reached, RJ Board of Directors decided to replace the current Airbus A320 and A321 fleet by new Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft through operating lease. (menareport.com)
