The summit, headed by Saudi Arabia's King Salman, is held on the 21st and the 22nd of November, but the fact that leaders have only convened online in the world plagued by the second wave of COVID19 might be more significant than any other summit held in the past.
Due to the pandemic that has been wreaking havoc across the globe since the early weeks of this year, there is a dire need for leaders of the biggest economies of the world to discuss reprioritizing their policies and exerting extra efforts into international collaboration in the hope of restoring world order and economic stability in the coming months.

Luckily, this summit was held only a few days after two potential vaccines have been declared to be widely successful in combating the novel coronavirus and significantly lowering chances of death as a result of infection. This news has been positively impacting global markets lately, as hopes of an end to the crisis emerge for the first time.
This year's summit is expected to address what the world's 20 largest economies can do to ensure that vaccines are available to as many people as possible in the shortest time, so the world can officially announce an end to the COVID19 pandemic.

Moreover, representatives of the 20 countries are going to examine the different challenges that most economies have had to overcome, in addition to the potential growth opportunities that can greatly boost economic recovery much needed in the near future.
Additionally, officials from the 20 countries that form the G20 group are likely to discuss their plans to strengthen global ties and dedicate it to realizing opportunities that can help alleviate life quality for their communities and humanity at large, besides "adopting long-term and bold strategies to utilize and share benefits of innovation."
However, many experts and climate activists have been expressing their hopes that the G20 summit will set the groundwork to tackle climate change, calling on the countries taking part in the summit to discuss alternative sources of energy to come closer to an emission-free world, which will eventually lower the risks of future global adversities.
