There have been increasing reports of Bahraini residents being pressured by landlords to pay higher rents or face eviction if they refuse to agree. According to Bahrain Tribune, a majority of those who suffer greatly are the expatriates.
A long-time resident Yusra was quoted as saying by the newspaper: “There was no explanation from the landlord. He told me it was either we agree to pay the BD100 increase he was asking for or we had to simply pack our bags and leave."
