The Raytheon Company has signed a $30 million contract with the Abu Dhabi Department of Civil Aviation to provide air traffic management and radar systems for Abu Dhabi and Al Ain Airports in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Under the contract, Raytheon will provide two AutoTrac II air traffic management automation systems, two L-Band primary surveillance radars, one monopulse secondary surveillance radar, one airport surface detection radar, communications systems, training, documentation and associated civil works.
Along with the multi-million dollar expansion program that has been on going at Abu Dhabi International Airport, these systems are aimed at transforming the airport into a major aviation hub in the Middle East. Al Ain International Airport will have a new radar control station with the latest air traffic control workstations, radar display systems and air traffic management systems. These new technologies will provide both national and international civil air traffic in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi with full radar approach services.
With headquarters in Lexington, Massachusetts, Raytheon Company is involved in government and commercial electronics, and business and special mission aircraft. In addition to Abu Dhabi, Raytheon's ATC systems have been installed in Lebanon, Oman, Said Arabia and the United States - in both civil and military applications.
