ALBAWABA - Villa Palmieri, once a favorite destination for Queen Victoria, is now up for sale for nearly $55 million.

Villa Palmieri

Villa Palmieri, located in Florence, Italy, sits on approximately 4,000 square meters (43,000 square feet) of land. Its garden measures nine hectares (22 acres), making it the second largest in the city, according to CNN and Dreamer Real Estate, the company managing the villa’s sale.

Guests can arrive at the villa via a helipad. The property features a tennis court, extensive gardens, and a historic swimming pool. Inside the house, there are 23 bedrooms and 19 bathrooms, displaying amazing interior designs.

It is worth noting that Villa Palmieri was built in the 14th century and was owned by the Fini family. In 1454, it was acquired by Matteo di Marco Palmieri, a Florentine humanist and historian, after whom the villa is named. In 1760, the villa was purchased by the 3rd Earl Cooper and was later owned by the Earls of Crawford and Balcarres.

Queen Victoria visited the villa in 1888, 1893, and 1894, as she was fond of the property and its facilities. Remnants of the queen’s historical connection are still present in the property, including murals and paintings.

“The Queen much appreciates the complete seclusion of the villa and the perfectly monastic quiet which it affords,” according to the New York Times.

Additionally, the villa became a distinguished venue for big events and weddings like the recent Givenchy collection show.
