Qtel has successfully reached the milestone of two million mobile customers in Qatar, hitting the target at one of its flagship Concept Stores in Doha this weekend.
Customer service representatives from Qtel are now looking to contact the two millionth customer, who is eligible for the major prize of two million Nojoom points, entitling him or her to a wide range of special rewards and experiences.
As well as the grand prize, 600 other lucky winners will receive prizes ranging from handsets through to free subscriptions to Shahry, as well as up to 10,000 additional Nojoom points.
Qtel has enjoyed a surge in sales in July, driven by the popularity of its Hala service and the increasing interest in Shahry – Pay Monthly, the country’s leading post-paid service.
Adel Al Mutawa, Executive Director, Group Communications, Qtel said: “It is a massive achievement to reach two million mobile customers in Qatar, and we are very grateful to the people for their support.”
“The response to the Two Millionth Customer Competition has been extremely enthusiastic, with Qtel Shops seeing high volumes of visitors in one of the busiest Julys that we’ve ever experienced. Our achievements as a company have only been realised with the support of the people, so it was important that we share our success in hitting the Two Million target with our customers through this competition,” he added.
Qtel has experienced accelerating growth within the Qatari market in 2009, registering 1.8 million customers in March 2009, and reaching this new milestone of two million customers in July. The official population of Qatar stood at 1.65 million, according to the Qatar Statistics Authority (QSA), meaning that, with more than two million mobile customers, Qtel has achieved a penetration rate of 121 percent.
Qtel’s customer service team will be calling winners in the promotion over the next two weeks to let them know the prizes they have won. Customers will be able to collect the prizes from Qtel Shops with a valid Qatari ID. Customers winning Nojoom points will be able to be automatically updated over the phone.
