QNOC signs additional contracts worth $7.6 million

On the last day of the QSi 2002 Expo in Doha, Secretary General of Qatar National Olympic (QNOC) Committee Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani awarded another five major contracts worth $7.6 million for a variety of design, project management, construction and infrastructure works. 

 

This brings the total of major contracts awarded by QNOC during the QSi Expo to 15 with a total value of around $34.5 million. The first and second contracts were awarded to Cico Consulting and Engineering for the initial development work on designing six new division one sports clubs at Al-Saad, Al-Arabi, Al-Ahli, Al-Khor, Al-Wakra a Qatar sports clubs. This contract is valued at $821,917. The second contract relates to post contract services worth $100,000. 

 

The third contract was awarded to Al Sharq Consulting for the detail design of the new Khaleej St sports center. The existing facility will be replaced by a new sports club which will have multi-purpose halls for indoor sports like basketball, handball, combat sports, fencing and seating for 3,000 people. This center is due to be completed in 2004 and the design contract will cost $397,260. 

 

The fourth contract was awarded to Satco International for extending the multi-purpose sports hall at the Al-Saad Club. The extension will increase the seating capacity, provide new changing rooms, a new VIP stand and other major refurbishments like lighting, flooring and scoreboards at a total cost of $1.6 million.  

 

Tadmur Trading & Contracting Est was awarded the contract to renovate & replace the athletics tracks of Al-Saad and Al-Arabi clubs. These clubs will be used as Doha's major athletics venues whilst Khalifa Stadium will be completely renovated. This contract is valued at $4.7 million. — (menareport.com)
