Qatar's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) posted a growth of 33.3 percent in 2005, compared to the year before. According to Kuna, Secretary-General of the Qatari Planning Council Sheikh Hamad bin Jaber Al Thani said that Qatar's GDP climbed from US$ 31.5 billion in 2004 to US$ 42 billion last year.
He attributed the GDP rise to the boost in the Qatari oil and gas sector, which registered a growth of 46.3 percent during the last two years.
