Qatari investments in Egypt could be jeopardized by the recent growing tensions between the two countries.

Qatar ranks ninth among countries with foreign direct investments (FDI) in Egypt, with 210 companies that have been investing in the country since 1970, as shown by data of the Egyptian General Authority for Investment (GAFI).

These companies invest a total of around $1.105 billion (EGP 20 billion) in several fields, led by the services sector which dominates around 80 percent of these investments, followed by industries.

Egypt, as well as Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and the UAE decided to cut diplomatic relations with Qatar on Monday.

The Egyptian foreign ministry announced the closure of its airspace and seaports for all Qatari transportation.
