Qatari government tenders totaled 1.6 billion riyals ($275 million) in 2001. Last year’s 248 tenders covered the sectors of construction, maintenance, roads, sewage and the water network, reported the official Kuna news agency.
Among the major projects carried out in 2001 were the first stages of construction on the Doha International Airport, the creation of a gas network, re-paving roads, a new sewage system and the launch of computer networks for most government ministries. — (menareport.com)
