Speakers at a seminar organised by the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) on rising housing rents Wednesday urged the government to amend provisions of a law that allows property owners to raise rents by huge margins.
The seminar, which was attended by top QCCI officials, members of the Central Municipal Council (CMC) and prominent businessmen and others, came up with a number of recommendations aimed at checking rising rents.
According to The Peninsula, the recommendations will be forwarded to the Ministry of Economy and Commerce with a request to be referred to the cabinet for possible action.
