Seeking to launch Qatar’s tourism industry on a wider scale, the oil-rich Gulf state is constructing some 7,000 hotel-rooms with an overall investment of $800 million by decade’s end, according to the Investment Management Group (IMG) of the Oman Arab Bank. The new accommodations will supplement Qatar’s existing 3,000 rooms.
The newly-formed Qatar General Tourism Authority - the government body charged with developing, co-ordinating and managing tourism in Qatar - is establishing a network of representative offices throughout the Gulf and Europe as it moves to position the Gulf state as an emerging family leisure and business travel destination. -- (menareport.com)
