The Qatar-based Boumatar Real Estate Group will present studies regarding a residential project dubbed "Liwan City", which includes 3,000 apartments, reported the Qatari newspaper, Al-Watan on September 7, 2005. The apartments will be offered for rent with low monthly fees, ranging between 1500, 2000 and 2500 Qatari Riyals ($412, $549 and $687). The Group is currently working to get a state-owned land for this project.
The general manager of the group, Rabi' al-Mahdi, said that the project includes 125 residential buildings. Four additional buildings will function as administrative offices for companies, with 100 offices and 150 shops of various sizes.
In addition, land plots will be offered for sale. The Group's studies show that there is an increasing demand for housing units of these kinds, especially among expatriates and among companies, which are interested in supplying their workers with adequate housing facilities.
