Qatar is considering plans to open an Islamic satellite TV channel next year based in Doha, the current president of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), a Qatari official said Monday.
The channel would beam "cultural programs, focused on dialogue between civilizations and religions," to Muslims across the world, the official told AFP, asking not to be named. He said that Qatar would finance the project, which was approved last month by the OIC. — (AFP, Doha)
