Qatar Airways and Thai Airways have signed a codeshare agreement that will link the fast growing Qatar Airways route network with Thai Airways' network of 35 countries.
Qatar Airways' Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al-Baker and Thai Airways' Executive Vice President Commercial Suthep Suebsantiwongse signed the agreement that will initially allow Qatar Airways to carry Thai passengers on the Bangkok-Doha/Doha-Bangkok sectors.
"This agreement effectively links the Qatar Airways growing route network of 49 destinations to Thai Airways' network of 72 destinations in four continents," said Al-Baker. "The codeshare agreement allows both airlines to carry each other passengers between Doha and Bangkok. As Thai Airways has yet to commence service to Doha, Qatar Airways will initially be carrying Thai Airways passengers between the two cities and onto the Qatar Airways network."
Qatar Airways currently flies to 49 destinations worldwide. Within the coming two years, the number of destinations served by the airline is projected to rise to 60. The airline’s recent deal with Airbus will increase its fleet to 52 by 2008. — (menareport.com)
