ALBAWABA - Sony's announcement of the PS5 Pro went viral across social media but for all the wrong reasons due to its bizarre price tag and design which didn't change much from its non-pro processor.
By the time of writing this article, the trailer of the PS5 pro on PlayStation's official YouTube account garnered more than 1.5 million views but received more than double the dislikes than likes.
It's currently sitting on 53,000 likes and 170,000 dislikes. Moreover, the console in question is being memed across social media platforms like X (formerly known as Twitter) by fans due to it being priced at $699 and requiring an $80 disk drive to support PS5 and PS4 disks.
PS5 Pro trailer receives nearly 200k dislikes on YouTube
Take in mind that the PS5 Pro is Sony's most expensive console to date and despite adding more storage, a better GPU, and AI-upscaling, to many gamers, it didn't justify its hefty price tag.
Adding insult to injury, PS5 users from the United Kingdom got angry with Sony's pricing with one saying, "Hey Sony... $699 doesn't equal £699!" This was followed by a screenshot showcasing that £699 is more than $900!
UK Fans are not happy!
Moreover, not adding a vertical stand with a $699 console annoyed many fans calling it a "greedy" move from Sony because if "$699" isn't enough, what is?"
A user on X wrote, "No console is worth that much money regardless of any tax. You may as well just buy a PC at this price point lol."
A PC can be expensive but people can use it outside of gaming including work-related topics such as design, coding, emulating, browsing the internet comfortably, and more.
Sony's PS5 Pro will hit stores on Nov. 7, 2024.
