Projects for desalination of sea water to start in Algeria

Abdelmalek Sellal, Minister Responsible for the Water Resources, announced on Sunday July 31 that the implementation of the projects for the desalination of sea water will be launched at the end of 2005.

 

Liberte Algeria reports that the project of the desalination of sea water envisaged in Skikda will be carried out by several companies such as Sonatrach, and Sonelgaz in collaboration with the Algerian-Spanish company Aguas de Skikda, in which the Spanish company Geida holds 51% of the shares and Algerian Energy Company (AEC) holds 49%. Minister Sellal noted that the project is planned to be completed within 24 months and that it will be followed by two other projects in Tlemcen and Mostaganem.
