The final touches for the design of the $1.7 billion Dolphin City Project in Abu Dhabi island were recently put in place by Australian architectural firm Peddle Thorp/Morgan, one of Australasia's three largest architectural groups and one of the top ten worldwide.

The Dolphin City development project will include office towers, a retail shopping area, a 75-storey seven-star hotel, an 18-hole golf course, a number of residential towers, a senior citizens residence, as well as entertainment venues, according to Khaleej Times.

The project will also include a diving academy and learning centre, a multi-purpose indoor diving facility that provides visitors with a unique approach towards sea life through multiple electronic museum halls and water-based activities and sports.

"The final study for the project will begin next month, while construction activities are expected to commence within five months", said Middle East Director at Peddle Thorp/Morgan Architects.

"This is going to be a landmark project in the UAE," Mikhai said, adding, "We are very excited about this project," and, "It is going to be one of the largest projects in the UAE."

Due to be completed by 2009, the Dolphin City project was conceived on the idea of helping children and their families cope with various physical and emotional disabilities. All visitors to the project will be able to enter the premises by cable cars.
