Young People Practice Debating At Qatar National Library Workshop

Young adults learned valuable debating skills at the “Public Speaking and Debate” workshop on 16 February at Qatar National Library.
Organized with QatarDebate, a member of Qatar Foundation, the workshop helped participants, who ranged in age from 12 to 18, conquer their self-doubt when it comes to public speaking and convey their opinions in a persuasive way.
The workshop was well-attended and participant Firas Qidwai said: “Whenever I prepare for a debating session, I visit the Library to collect information about the topics of focus. It is giving debaters and those who are seeking information easy access to lots of resources and helps us hone our research skills.”
Nirat Pai, another attendee, said: “Our debating coaches recommend we use the books and databases available at the Library to prepare our arguments ahead of each of our debates. It has everything that a student or a debater can ask for to win a debate.”
