The World Cup has come to an end, and while most players entered the season with a seemingly solid reputation, the overall performance by many players had been slow the entire season.

“Strength, speed, power, endurance and coordination are important factors that can determine the chances of being successful in any given sport. After 30 years of age, muscle mass tends to drop, but this is not something most people will notice. However, for a competitive athlete, where a win can come down to a fraction of a second, it is important to build on abilities strategically,” said Dr. Ramzy Ross, Clinic Manager & Head of Sports & Human Performance at nanoM.

NanoM is a unique, independent health assessment facility, developed primarily for the world of professional sport. It houses the latest equipment to analyse health, fitness, total body functionality, as well as physical performance capabilities. The facility not only examines a patient’s overall health, but is also designed to detect and analyse both existing and potential medical problems.

“As a player, your responsibility isn’t just training day-to-day, it’s to try and work around your specific training, develop specific aspects of your game and work smart to reduce your injury risk. The fact is, a 40-year-old athlete may still perform many times better than a 20 or 30-year-old, but as you age you essentially have to pay more attention to your health, mental and physical conditioning in order to increase your chances of staying at the top of your game.. As part of this approach, it is essential that athletes continually assess their fitness and performance levels on a regular basis and follow a tailored training and lifestyle plan,” said Dr. Ross.

“With age, there is an increased risk of musculo-skeletal injuries and alongside a likely decline in cardiovascular fitness. However, modern technology in sports medicine have made things possible that were impossible before. At nanoM, athletes are offered an array of diagnostics that assess everything from fitness levels, body motion analytics , to hand-eye coordination testing and agility measurement, to help  enhance and maintain performance levels alongside extending careers,” added Dr. Ross.

According to a report published by Zion Market Research, the growth of the sports medicine market can be primarily attributed to the increasing number of sports injuries and growing technological advancements the medical device sector that is introducing new products in the market.

“As technology advances, nanoM is exactly the kind of facility that players can benefit from, helping pinpoint potential issues that will help them focus on fitness, conditioning and wider factors that can impact ones performance level,” concluded Dr. Ross.

Currently, nanoM offers customised program packages for a wide range of athletes, and programmes range from half-a-day to two days in duration. The facility also has its own movement analysis area, with high definition cameras installed, to monitor and analyse whole body motion which can help pinpoint existing or potential problems in sport players. Alongside the extensive sports testing on offer, for professional and former athletes, nanoM’s Medical Assessment Centre offers a host of in-depth health and wellbeing assessments including biometric testing, radiology (e.g. MRI scanning), ultrasound screening, dentistry, cardiology alongside mental stress analysis.
