Warba Bank Supports the Educational Journey of Visually Impaired Students
As part of its firm commitment to social responsibility and dedication to serving all segments of Kuwaiti society, Warba Bank announced its sponsorship of the Kuwait Blind Association and the donation of three advanced braille devices to blind students. This initiative aims to support their educational journey and empower them to continue their studies and academic research efficiently and independently.
This initiative reflects Warba Bank’s vision to community service, which goes beyond traditional banking activities to include supporting the most vulnerable groups, particularly people with special needs. The Bank firmly believes that true social responsibility means reaching every segment of society without exception and providing the necessary support to empower individuals to achieve their ambitions and unlock their full potential.
Warba Bank has also adopted a broader initiative to empower visually impaired individuals in accordance with the Marrakesh Treaty, which guarantees the right of blind persons to accessible information. This project is being implemented in collaboration with the National Diwan for Human Rights and in partnership with the GCC Intellectual Property Training Center of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
A Firm Commitment to Serving All Segments of Society
Dr. Mohammed Barakat, Chief Marketing and Corporate Communications Officer at Warba Bank, affirmed that this initiative stems from the Bank’s continuous commitment to community service and charitable work, as part of its mission to achieve comprehensive social responsibility that reaches all segments of Kuwaiti society, particularly those most in need of support and empowerment.
He highlighted that Warba Bank’s focus on supporting the blind reflects its deep commitment to inclusivity and social justice, and its belief that every individual deserves the opportunity to realize their full potential regardless of challenges. He emphasized that the Bank will continue to support initiatives that empower people with disabilities and promote their integration into society.
Advanced Devices to Empower Blind Students
On his part, Mr. Fayez Al-Azmi, Chairman of the Kuwait Blind Association, stated that the Association is one of Kuwait’s leading institutions dedicated to the care, rehabilitation and empowerment of the blind. It provides educational, social and rehabilitation services to help the blind integrate into society, achieve independence and raise public awareness about their rights and contributions.
Al-Azmi added: “The braille devices donated by Warba Bank feature advanced capabilities that enhance students’ ability to pursue their education effectively. They allow users to conduct research, write, take notes, browse the internet, prepare academic reports and papers and complete assignments — offering an integrated set of tools that empower students to excel academically and compete on equal footing with their peers.”
He emphasized that these devices are vital educational tools for blind students, opening wide horizons for accessing information and knowledge, enhancing their academic and research skills, fostering independent learning and boosting their confidence and academic performance.
Continued Partnership with Charitable Organizations
This initiative is one of several community programs that Warba Bank implements in cooperation with charitable and specialized organizations. The Bank had previously collaborated with the International Islamic Charity Organization to launch Kuwait’s first Holy Quran competition for the blind during the holy month of Ramadan. The initiative was met with wide participation and remarkable success, inspiring many visually impaired individuals to memorize and engage deeply with the Holy Quran.
These ongoing partnerships reflect Warba Bank’s commitment to working alongside institutions with the expertise and experience in serving targeted communities, ensuring the maximum positive impact of the Bank’s community initiatives.
Comprehensive Social Responsibility
Warba Bank is invested in serving the Kuwaiti society through diverse initiatives that address the needs of all segments of the community. The Bank believes that its true success is measured not only by financial performance but by the extent to which it improves lives and enhances wellbeing in line with its vision, “Let’s Own Tomorrow.”
Warba Bank continues to implement numerous community initiatives across multiple areas, including education through its “Rowad” and “Intilaqa” programs, entrepreneurship, culture, sports, and charitable and humanitarian efforts. These initiatives reflect Warba Bank’s unwavering commitment to social responsibility and its active role in advancing sustainable community development in Kuwait.
