United Development Company gears up to support "Earth Hour" 2016

United Development Company (UDC), a leading Qatari shareholding company, has announced its collaboration with Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) to participate in “Earth Hour” Initiative that took place this year from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 19. UDC supported the “Earth Hour” Initiative by powering down the superfluous lights at all of its common areas on The Pearl-Qatar.

Participation in this environmental decision-making is effectively aimed at raising awareness among Qatari society about the importance of turning off all unnecessary lights for one hour. In turn, this will demonstrate a commitment in supporting a better world, preserving sustainable power for one hour and to observe and join Earth Hour communities around the world in order to protect the environment for future generations.

Earth Hour has always been an important corporate and community-wide initiative for UDC, this initiative encourages UDC employees, residents and customers to participate in this global event, as the underlying issue continues to be a significant one that affects all. The participation in Earth Hour reminds all in reducing the carbon footprint and drives all to continue furthering in conservation and environmental protection. 

During last year's Earth Hour Event, UDC reported high marks pertaining to the reduction in electricity consumption across its entire projects and establishments. Conserving energy and protecting the environment are key strategic imperatives for United Development Company and its flagship Island development, The Pearl-Qatar.
