Turning Trash into Lessons as Ooredoo & EFP Oman Introduces “Save & Sustain” in Schools

Ooredoo has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with EFP Oman registered as National Global Business to launch Oman’s first-of-its-kind “Save & Sustain” sustainability programme, reshaping how the next generation thinks about our planet and transforming environmental education across three public schools in Muscat. As part of Ooredoo’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility and environmental sustainability, the initiative will bring more than just recycling facilities to schools. It will also launch the ‘Save & Sustain’ Green Ambassador programme, a first-of-its-kind academic initiative developed by EFP Oman, and approved by the Ministry of Education.
Dedicated recycling will be provided to Al Sultan Faisal bin Turki Primary Education for Boys, Nahdha Primary Education for Boys, and Nabaa Primary Education for Girls. Waste collection services will also be provided for the Ooredoo offices, to support the company’s own environmental goals.
The one year programme supports Oman Vision 2040’s Net Zero goals, and UNESCO’s Green Schools framework. The programme will teach students about recycling and sustainability through hands-on activities and trips, workshops, and environmental awareness lectures, inspiring them to become future green leaders.
“This initiative reflects Ooredoo’s commitment to driving sustainable change and supporting Oman’s environmental goals,” said Aziz Hadad, Director of Branding and Communications at Ooredoo. “Through our partnership with EFP Oman, we’re equipping young people with the knowledge and opportunities to turn environmental awareness into real, lasting change for Oman.”
Sadiya Al Bakri, Founder of EFP Oman, commented: “The ‘Save & Sustain’ programme is the first of its kind in Oman, designed to empower the next generation. With the Ministry of Education’s approval and Ooredoo’s partnership, we are ensuring that sustainability is not just taught, but lived; planting the seeds of a truly sustainable future for our nation.”
The project also supports Ooredoo’s broader ESG strategy, fostering partnerships that benefit both local communities and the environment, while aligning with the values of customers who want to see real social and environmental impact.
As part of the collaboration, National Global Business will supply the recycling bins and technical expertise in waste management, while the schools and their administrators will lead day-to-day implementation within their communities.
