The culmination of the third successful summer training programme at du saw 20 young Emiratis successfully graduate from the scheme, having gained in-depth experience.

A graduation ceremony was held at du’s head office in Dubai Media City, where each of the trainees were presented with a certificate of completion by Yaser Obaid, Vice President – Human Resources and Jamal Lootah, Senior Director – National Recruitment and Emiratisation, who congratulated them on their achievements.

“Experience is an essential component for career advancement, and we are proud that our summer trainees have earned their skills through successfully integrating into our various departments,” said Yaser Obaid. “They have proven their aptitude for working in a professional environment, and we are pleased to have given them the opportunity to shine as they have done in their time with us.”

“The summer training programme is part of our extensive Emiratisation efforts, through which we are empowering young UAE nationals with the skills that they need to succeed in their career,” commented Jamal Lootah. “In the 20 trainees who we hosted over the past two months, we have found eager, career-minded Emiratis who will go on to be an asset to any company that they join, thanks to the skills that they have learnt while working with us. We wish them all of the best in the future, and maybe we see some of them back with du in the future.”

Nasser Khalifa Al Falasi, one of the summer trainees, took to the stage during the graduation to present an extensive study of the results of the programme, detailing the knowledge and skills that his peers had gained through the experience. The trainees’ response to their time spent at du was exceedingly positive, with a survey conducted amongst them proving their high levels of satisfaction.

This is the third summer training programme that du has organised, in-line with efforts to achieve higher Emiratisation within the company and to increase the employability of young UAE nationals. For the first time, high school graduates were eligible to apply for a position on the programme alongside college graduates, with successful applicants being placed into du’s Brand and Communications, Retail, Marketing, Human Resources, Finance and Technology departments, with the possibility of being offered a permanent position upon successfully completing their traineeship.
