The 2012 Global Financial Markets Forum (GFMF), which begins this Wednesday, will offer Investor Presentation sessions from several UAE top companies.

GFMF, organised by the National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), is the region’s only facilitator of investor presentations, which create greater transparency and allow the region’s companies tell their story and strategies to a wide international audience. This further aligns the UAE marketplace with the best international standards and allows UAE to expand its participation in commerce in the age of globalism.

“One of the fundamental objectives of the annual Global Financial Markets Forum is to expand Abu Dhabi’s, and by default the UAE’s, influence and prestige in international commerce,” says Mahmood Al Aradi, the Senior General Manager of NBAD’s Financial Markets Division. “The investor presentations provide a needed service at a time when the world is increasingly uncertain about what lays ahead in 2012, especially as greater attention is paid to GCC companies.”

Companies that will present Investor Presentation sessions are Aldar, Etisalat, General Holding Corporation (GHC), Mubadala, NBAD, and TAQA; which comprise, respectively, of property development, telecommunications, industrial, Abu Dhabi government’s investment arm, financial services and energy sectors.

Investor presentations are a key to raising funds for a company. Last year’s GFMF was the first time investor presentations were offered in the Gulf.

“The Investor Presentation sessions are one of the great values that the annual GFMF offers to attendees,” says Sameh Abdulla Al Qubaisi, the General Manager of Institutional and Corporate Coverage Group at NBAD’s Financial Markets Division. “The annual Global Financial Markets Forum is the only facilitator of investor presentation; our aim is to provide the Forum’s attendees a comprehensive and valuable medium for learning.”

The Forum kicks off February 29 and concludes March 1 with an impressive list of prominent speakers and important Gulf decision-makers.

This year’s speakers include Paul Volcker, former chairman of the US Federal Reserve System and economic advisor to President Barak Obama; and Axel Weber, president of Deutsche Bundesbank, the German Central Bank, and a member of European Central Bank Governing Council.

Last year’s GFMF attracted 700 delegates from across many countries, including such notable speakers as Dr. Nassim Nicholas Taleb, the author of “The Black Swan;” and author, academic and economic commentator Jim Rogers.

Each year’s GFMF is unique and adds on the success of the year before. This year, organisers assemble speakers and panels who will discuss the impact of Euro’s challenges and last year’s regional political developments.
