Third edition of the “Shams Gaming" E-sports Championship to take place from April 26-28

Sharjah, April 23, 2024: Sharjah Media City (Shams) has announced that it will organise the “Shams Gaming" E-sports tournament at Shams Business Center from Friday, April 26 to Sunday, April 28. The event is part of Shams' efforts to enhance the UAE's position internationally in the gaming and e-sports sector.

This year's tournament is being held under the sponsorship of Speedy Comics, and it will take place over three days from 4pm to 10pm. It will feature FIFA 24, Tekken 8, and Super Smash Bros. The total value of the prizes to be awarded to the winners is AED30,000.

Rashid Abdalla Alobad, the Managing Director of Sharjah Media City (Shams), said: “This tournament is part of Shams' continuous efforts to develop the skills of the new generation and to discover emerging talents in the world of electronic games.”

He emphasised that Shams will support entertainment and cultural activities in the regionas they build players' characters through values such as perseverance, ambition, and the spirit of challenge.

“This tournament is an additional step in a series of events aimed at enhancing Sharjah's position as a leading destination for the gaming and esports industry,” said Alobad, adding that this tournament will not be just a competition, but an unforgettable experience for electronic games enthusiasts, bringing together skill, excitement, and competitive spirit in unparalleled entertainment atmosphere.

Alobad has urged those interested in participating in the e-sports tournament to register on Shams Gaming’s Instagram account: “shamsesports”.
