Tamkeen increases support to Bahrain’s Agricultural Enterprises at Bahrain International Garden Show 2012

Tamkeen contributed BD26,627 through its “Tarweej” Scheme to enable 14 Bahraini enterprises to showcase their products and services at the Bahrain International Garden Show 2012 (January 15 18), held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain. The much anticipated event was officially opened by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King of Bahrain.
Tarweej is one of several schemes offered by Tamkeen under the Enterprise Development Support Programme, and is a co-financing scheme designed to make them sustainable by increasing the reach of their products and services through participation in local and regional trade exhibitions – such as BIGS.
“The landscaping and agricultural sector in Bahrain is one of the key sectors which we have targeted for development through our programmes, and our support in previous editions of this important event has yielded positive returns for the benefiting enterprises” said Tamkeen's Chief Executive Mr. Mahmood Hashem Al Kooheji. “As such, this year we have increased the number of companies supported by 75% to allow more businesses to capitalize on this opportunity.”
Tamkeen’s support covers 80% of the total cost of participation, including space rental, and design, production, and installation of stands for local events. Airfare, cargo, and accommodation costs are included for exhibitions held abroad.
Mr. Fadhel Sulibi, owner and creative founder of Roof Gardens, spoke about his cutting edge business concept which he aims to introduce to everyone Bahrain - rooftop agricultural gardens. “As a first-time participant through Tamkeen’s “Tarweej” scheme, I have been able to maximize my business exposure by using this platform to network and exchange ideas with other businesses and top professionals in this field.”
Similarly, Mr. Abdel-Moneim Bukhilli, a Bahraini entrepreneur and owner of Alwadi Agroserve, commented, “Before my first participation with Tamkeen, my display area at the show was small and limited due lack of funds. Now I am able to display my products in a larger space of much higher quality, which in turn has enhanced my brand image and boosted my sales.”
