Tamkeen launches Community Engagement Initiative

As part of its effort to reach out to the community across the kingdom, Tamkeen, in partnership with the Ministry of Social Development, the General Organisation for Youth and Sports and the five Governorates Launched the Community Engagement Initiative yesterday (Sunday 11th of November).The leading initiative seeks to establish various, direct, and effective communication channels with all sectors of the society through the appointment of local Tamkeen representatives in Bahrain's five governorates in order to strengthen the awareness of Tamkeen’s programmes to the residents of each of these areas as well as encouraging them to benefit from them.
In the first official meeting held under this initiative, representatives of charitable organisations, sports clubs and youth centres in Al Muharraq Governorate were introduced to Tamkeen's vision, mission along with its strategic objectives. They were also introduced to the various programmes supported by Tamkeen. During the meeting, the expected roles for each party were also discussed along with responding to the various inquiries about the initiative.
Meetings with representatives from various organisations from the Capital Governorate, the Northern Governorate, the Central Governorate and the Southern Governorate will also take place over the course of the next few days. The meetings will specify the representatives for each area and prepare them according to the initiative’s programme.
Tamkeen has so far designed 180 programmes from which more than 50,000 Bahrainis and Bahrain-based enterprises have benefited. Over BD107 million were allocated to projects in 2012.

Tamkeen is a public authority established in August 2006, tasked with supporting Bahrain’s private sector and positioning it as the key driver of economic growth and development. Tamkeen is one of the cornerstones of Bahrain’s national reform initiatives and Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.
Tamkeen has two primary objectives - firstly, foster the development and growth of enterprises, and second provide support to enhance the productivity and training of the national workforce. To achieve these objectives -Tamkeen’s 2018-2020 strategy focuses on Diversifying offerings, Accelerate delivery and Sustaining Impact.
