On the occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadan, the SUBWAY restaurants chain in Kuwait donated KD5,000 to the Kuwait Red Crescent Society and distributed Iftar meals to 200 service staff across Al Sabah Hospital in Kuwait.

SUBWAY-Kuwait joined hands with the Patients Helping Fund Society to provide healthy Iftar meals to blue collar employees who remain on duty even during Iftar at hospitals across Kuwait. The meals comprised catering platters with a variety of freshly cut sandwiches and SUBWAY cookies to offer well-balanced meals.

Additionally, SUBWAY-Kuwait donated KD5,000 to the Kuwait Red Crescent Society for aid in Somalia, as part of its ongoing efforts towards community support, which is in line with the SUBWAY chain’s mission to lend a helping hand to the less privileged.

Abdulrahman Al Mutairi, Development Agent, SUBWAY-Kuwait, said: “We, at SUBWAY-Kuwait, remain closely engaged with society. Our Iftar campaign aims to provide a healthier and convenient meal option to break the fast during Ramadan for the workers in Kuwait. Though a small gesture, through this initiative along with the donation to the Red Crescent Society in Kuwait, we hope to help those who are in need and reiterate the SUBWAY restaurant chain’s stance to function as a responsible global corporation in the region.”

The SUBWAY chain is the largest submarine sandwich franchise in the Arab world with more than 250 restaurants in numerous prominent locations across the region. It currently boasts more than 100 stores in the UAE, 45 each in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, 17 in Qatar, 11 each in Jordan and Bahrain, nine in Oman, four in Egypt and five in Lebanon.

During 2010 in the Zagat Fast Food Survey, the SUBWAY restaurants brand was ranked first in the ‘Most Popular’, ‘Top Service’ and ‘Healthy Options’ categories for food brands with 5,000 or more locations.
