Students from El Salvador have been given an insight into university life at Qatar Foundation – and how the organization can support them to advance their academic journey at Education City.

In a cross-continental virtual event organized by Qatar Foundation’s (QF) Student Financial Services, and attended by Gerardo Heriberto Pérez Figueroa, Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy of El Salvador in Qatar, more than 500 students from the Central American country learned about QF’s international partner universities and the range of scholarships and financial aid options it provides through its commitment to inclusive, accessible education.

The open house-style event gathered Salvadorian learners who are based in their home country and around the world, including those living in Qatar, with Mr. Figueroa saying: “In seeking opportunities for young people from El Salvador who are looking to continue their education abroad, it is very important to have key partners.

“In QF and Qatar, we have found such partners. QF has partnered with some of the best universities in the world, and we believe that having students from El Salvador being part of the Education City community provides us with added value as we compete in a globalized world.

“Education City is an extremely impressive educational environment, and Qatar now stands at a very interesting period in time, creating an ecosystem of opportunities which Salvadorian students can be part of.”

Sheikh Salman Bin Hassan Al Thani, Chief Financial Officer, QF, told the El Salvadorian students: “We believe education is an opportunity to learn, explore, discover, create, and innovate, and to gain the skills and the mindset required to succeed in work, society, and life – and we also believe this opportunity should be open to as many young people as possible.

“This is why we provide financial support for talented students from around the world to help them realize their potential through our unique model of learning.”

Ahead of the event, Mr Figueroa visited Education City as a guest of QF Student Financial Services, where he was given an overview of QF’s mission and the full scope of its programs and initiatives in the fields of education, science and research, and community development.

Students at QF can access a number of financial support options through its Student Financial Services department. For more information, visit www.qf.org.qa/education/higher-education/financial-aid
